Using an eSIM in India: your questions
Your phone must support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked to use these plans. Dial *#06# and look for an EID, which identifies your phone’s eSIM.
Yes, you keep your own SIM and number while the eSIM handles data. You can keep using WhatsApp with your existing number during your India trip.
Your existing SIM receives bank codes, not this data-only eSIM for India. Keep that SIM turned on; receiving codes still relies on your home carrier and bank.
Sharing through a hotspot requires your phone’s hotspot feature to work with mobile data. Any data you share comes from the connection’s allowance, not a separate pool.
Your fixed bundle contains a set amount of data for your trip. Day passes work differently: data continues at a lower speed after the daily allowance.
You can buy another plan from your prepaid account balance for your longer stay. Its validity starts on first connection, so buying alone does not start it.
